Stuff about me:
The nutshell: I’m a mess, but I’m working on being less messy. At some point, I may actually pull myself together. But this messiness can make for some word spillage that creeps out into the universe. I am paradoxically extremely private, but occasionally feel the need to spill emotional messiness into the cybersphere. I am often stuck in my own head, and have to battle my way out. My blog is a combination of scraping out my head, and sharing whatever tiny shred of knowledge I’ve gained about writing and editing.
The geeky stuff: I got my MA in English Composition and Literature from California State University, San Bernardino with specialties in Women’s Studies and the Classics. A BA in English from California State University, Los Angeles, and a Teaching English as a Foreign Language Certificate (TEFL) from ITTT round out the degrees of which serve no real purpose in my world at the moment.
The random stuff: I’ve been an editorial consultant for a long time. I’m also the co-director of a social enterprise called Global Wordsmiths, and we publish charity anthologies via Global Words Press.
My first lesbian publication came out in Regal Crest’s Blue Collar Lesbian Erotica, 2008. Since then, I’ve had several other publications come out, and hope they will continue to do so. Check out my publications page for the book covers.
- I love Latin music, Country music, Pop music and any reason, really, to dance.
- I am desperately addicted to coffee, and I don’t care.
- I am cluttered but obsessive about it.
- I love travelling, and will take the opportunity to go pretty much anywhere, at any time.
- I’m a pseudo vegetarian.
- I lived in the States for most of my life, but live in England now, and it’s unquestionably my home.
- I make up words. All the time. You would totally hate playing Scrabble with me.
- I’m allergic to pineapple.
- I have nearly fallen to my death off a cliff, I have been in a car hit by lightning, and I randomly fall over in public on a regular basis for no apparent reason.
I identify as a femme lesbian, though I’m in a period of my life where I’m questioning the meaning of that identity.
I believe in the power of words; to hurt, to heal, to change, to degrade, to empower. I am trying to use them more wisely, and wield them with kindness and forethought. It’s very much a work in progress.
